Scam alerts
Fraud that borrows Emaar's name follows a small number of familiar patterns. This page states plainly what Emaar will and will not do, so a genuine contact can be told from a fraudulent one in under a minute.
01 — What Emaar never does
If someone asks for this, stop.
Scammers use Emaar's name and logo in emails, pop-up ads, text messages, instant messages and phone calls to obtain personal information. One rule covers almost every version of the attempt.
The one thing to remember
"Emaar will never ask you for your account username and password."
If a call, text, email or pop-up claiming to be from Emaar asks for your login details, treat it as a scam, do not respond, and do not follow any link or attachment it includes.
02 — How to tell
Verify it, in under a minute.
Genuine Emaar contact can always be checked against this page and the numbers on Contact Emaar. Anything you cannot independently verify should be treated as suspicious until it is.
How to verify you're dealing with Emaar
- The sender's email domain ends in @emaar.ae, or you dialled the number yourself from this page rather than one given to you.
- You were not asked for a username, password or one-time verification code.
- No one has asked you to pay into an individual's personal account rather than the process set out in your own Sale Agreement.
- You can independently confirm the contact by calling 800 EMAAR (36227) or through the enquiry form on Contact Emaar.
Signs of a scam
- You are asked for your account username, password or a one-time code.
- You are offered a prize, a gift, or a cryptocurrency investment out of nowhere.
- You are pressured to act immediately, or threatened if you do not respond.
- You are asked to open an attachment or follow a link in an unsolicited message.
03 — Gift scams
How the gift scam works.
Scammers replicate Emaar emails and text messages, using Emaar's own logo, to deceive people into sharing account credentials. They typically make contact by offering a gift, or by making a threat, and then ask for personal information or a password to follow through on either.
- Do not open attachments or follow links in suspicious or unsolicited communications.
- Verify the caller's identity, the sender's email address, the website URL and the phone number before giving any personal information.
- Never share personal information with anyone who has contacted you first.
- If you believe your information has already been compromised, update your password immediately.
04 — Fake cryptocurrency
There is no Emaar cryptocurrency.
Fraudulent activity promoting a fake cryptocurrency named "EMAAR" circulates on social media. Unaffiliated individuals falsely claim that Emaar launched it, and multiple trading platforms are reported to list it.
Important disclaimer
"EMAAR has neither issued nor is associated with any cryptocurrency named 'EMAAR.'"
"EMAAR bears no responsibility for any liabilities, claims, demands, losses, or damages whatsoever incurred or which may be incurred as a result of interacting with or investing in fraudulent schemes or cryptocurrencies."
